Dear Mama’s Nectar Family,
Vaping in Malta is entering a new chapter. As of January 1, 2025, the Maltese government has introduced an excise duty on e-liquids and tighter regulations for manufacturers and importers, significantly increasing prices across all vape stores. This marks a major shift for both customers and businesses, impacting the cost of manufacturing, purchasing, and the availability of certain vape hardware.
While these changes may be frustrating, it’s important to understand why this tax was introduced, how it affects pricing, and what’s happening with vape hardware under EU regulations.
To align with taxation and regulatory policies in other European countries, the Maltese government has implemented an excise duty of €0.13 per milliliter on all e-liquids, including both nicotine and non-nicotine products.
10ml Bottle → Additional €1.30
30ml Bottle → Additional €3.90
60ml Bottle → Additional €7.80
120ml Bottle → Additional €15.60
250ml Bottle → Additional €32.50
500ml Bottle → Additional €65.00
For example, a 120ml bottle with freebase nicotine shots, previously priced at €19.50, will now cost €35.10 after tax.
While time and our blends run out, we are preparing our systems to reflect our e-liquid prices with this excise tax. Meanwhile, we recommend stocking up on your favorite e-liquids now while pre-tax inventory is still available.
While we understand this increase is unwelcome, Malta’s vaping tax is still lower than in many other EU countries, where excise duties can reach €0.50 per ml — nearly four times Malta’s rate.
The Maltese government introduced this tax as part of Budget 2025, estimating it will generate €500,000 in its first year. Similar policies have been adopted across Europe to regulate vaping products and align taxation with traditional tobacco products.
At Mama’s Nectar, we are working hard to keep prices as competitive as possible while adapting to this new tax.
We don’t have much time with the original prices, so now may be a good time to stock up before the transition is complete.
We are also exploring new hardware and device models that fully comply with the latest regulations, ensuring you have access to the best vaping options moving forward.
In addition to the new tax, EU vaping regulations are being enforced more strictly, leading to changes in product availability.
Some vape devices will no longer be restocked due to updated compliance requirements.
Certain pod systems, mods, and tanks may face delays or discontinuation as stricter importation processes come into effect.
Stricter policies on filling mechanisms and a maximum capacity of 2ml for tanks and pods are further limiting product options.
We are doing our best to source compliant, high-quality vape hardware, but if you rely on a specific device, we recommend securing it now before stock runs out.
We understand that these changes require adjustments for everyone, both vapers and businesses alike. However, even with these shifts, vaping remains significantly more cost-effective than smoking.
A pack-a-day smoker spends almost €200 per month, while e-liquids last longer and remain the more economical choice.
Vaping is still 95% less harmful than smoking, as scientifically proven, making it the better long-term alternative.
At Mama’s Nectar, we remain strictly committed to providing the same quality you always loved while keeping this healthier alternative affordable. Any questions? feel free to reach out. We’re here to help you navigate this transition and continue enjoying your vaping experience.
Thank you for being part of the Mama’s Nectar family!
